Sonya Barnes, CEO of Sonya Barnes International; formerly Harris & Barnes Image Consulting established her company in 2001. She is a renown international image and branding consultant. With strong leadership skills she is known as the “go-to” consultant for many in executive leadership roles, and often sought out to speak to many private and public organizations providing world class training  on visual appearance, verbal and nonverbal communications worldwide. 

With an elite repertoire of select influential individual clients, she has traveled throughout the United States, and globally to destinations such as Southeast Asia, and Europe training consultants on key components of image communications and consulting foreign companies on US business protocol and etiquette.  Her client list includes Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo and many others. 

She has appeared in national and international media outlets including her local, regional and national media,  Good Day Vietnam, and most recently the Chicago Tribune. She’s been chosen  as a style and brand expert for Tone Networks; an online subscription for women providing style and branding tips for professional women.

As a community leader and philanthropist she is an active member of Women’s Executives, and Women’s Impact Fund.  An alumna of Leadership Charlotte, Class 29 she served consistently a dedicated 10 years to the organization serving on the board, executive board, and Board Chair of Leadership Charlotte, 2015-2016.  She is the second African American female president in its history in over 20 years to hold this position. 

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hospice Palliative Care Charlotte Region, The Arts Empowerment Project, and a founding Board Member of iThe Lunch Project (TLP) a global non-profit servicing children in Tanzania, East Africa.  She is a graduate of University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
